Well poor sunnis are undoubtedly the largest group in Syria, even if they dont form the absolute majority. Middle class is also a very relative thing.
Overall minority regions (shia, alwai, druze, christian) are quite calm. Two largest and most prosper Sunni towns Damascus and Haleb are also pretty calm. But most of the remaining sunni towns are in mess.
This conflic seems the same of Lybia, and I think the final can be the same for the president.
