Confining troops to bases and barracks are SOP for governments in such situations. As far as the Syrians using bombardment, they've always used bombardment, I don't think it's anything personal, I think it's just the way they've operated historically. This isn't the first time this has happened in Syria, though this is the first time the world is taking a side and the first time the Sunni regimes in the Gulf.are attempting to destabilize Syria.

I just wish members would stop and take a step back, consider the sources of information we're getting, and most importantly to stop applying double standards.

There is a concerted effort to destabilize Syria, there are arms and aid pouring into Syria now, so why shouldn't the sources of information be studied scrupulously for disinformation and propaganda? We know the press isn't doing this but we here at Milphoto's should hold ourselves to a higher standard

Or maybe it's just that she gets to spend more on one pair of shoes than most of us earn in 6 months.

Frankly, term "political legitimacy to rule" is just political bs. Vast majority of governments of this world were not elected freely or were not elected at all and have their power not from (although it is cliche) will of the people, but from the force with which they operate. During socialism, in out textbook definition of state was "controlled violence". Also as everyone can notice, this term comes to play not while defending someone legitimacy to rule, but when states are attacking someone legitimacy. That is why you will never, ever hear from any state in the world anything about legitimacy of CCP in China for example. Anyway that doesnt mean that Assads government have this legitimacy, but if someone operates with that term using it in context that he lost his legitimacy year ago, when he himself is unelected dictator for decade, is laughtable.
