I would understand such a curiosity if the weapon used would be a decisive factor for such performance and/or effect.

    Oh, well. I think it's a RPG-7.

T-72s are garbage tanks, that's for sure.. RPG-7 can blow it up to pieces easily as if it was a toy tank..

Think so, too. The initial explosion blow open the hatch and had thrown him onto the back of the tank, torn his cloths. The cook-off threw him off the tank. The last part is good to see if you look at the video frame-by-frame.

Absolutely. For that matter, almost every HEAT warhead ever produced since the 70s is able to penetrate any side of a T-72 except the very front part of the turret (if it's a version with ceramic inlay).

I overlayed (easy job thanks to the very stable video) two images from the clip - makes it a little bit better to see were the warhead hit.
Still hard to tell. If not right between turret and hull it was very close.
So I think it is safe to say that it was a perfect hit.

How in the world do the pro-Syrian government militia and the FSA tell each other part? Friendly fire incidents must be pretty common place.

Only that T-72s covered with ERA since 1985 at least can protect their sides against non-tandem warheads. Thus eliminating a threat of those old RPGs, AT-4 and any other non-tandem HEAT.

Syrian tanksmen should learn long ago to drive in urban battle only with half ammo, only with 22 rounds fitting to autoloader.
Yep, I have seen some videos from inside the tanks and they were carrying ammunition outside it. A big danger in an urban area. 22 rounds are enough.
