(R.e.u.t.e.r.s) - Iran's military said on Sunday it had shot down a U.S. reconnaissance drone aircraft in eastern Iran, a military source told state television.

"Iran's military has downed an intruding RQ-170 American drone in eastern Iran," Iran's Arabic-language Al Alam state television network quoted the unnamed source as saying.
"The spy drone, which has been downed with little damage, was seized by the Iranian armed forces."
Iran shot down the drone at a time when it is trying to contain foreign reaction to the storming of the British embassy in Tehran on Tuesday, shortly after London announced that it would impose sanctions on Iran's central bank in connection with Iran's controversial nuclear enrichment program.

Just a RQ-170? I was expecting a X-47B! Needless to say, I feel pretty disappointed.
If it is really an RQ-170, that would be a mess for the CIA (I guess they are operating these). Skunk works division stuff. If the Iranian got the wreck, they will stydy it and probably male a deal with the Chinese who should be very interested in this baby.

Haha! This time they went too far! In the past they just said they shoot down some US drone but did not show it for security reasons, but now they have told the type and said that it was captured almost intact.
With all that said they now HAVE TO SHOW it, escalate the situation or shut up in future.

Does Iran have the knowhow to take full advantage of the wreckage in terms of reverse engineering etc.? If it is true of course.
