    Iranian ''warnings'' usually are shots

In which case they're bloody lucky the answer isn't a harpoon missile.
Being shadowed during exercises by foreign vessels/aircraft is all part of the game, firing shots isn't.

I remember few years back there was the Iranian UAV that flew over the aircraft carrier in the area monitoring the ongoing war-gaming, can you how pissed they would have been if we lit that UAV up and sent it to the bottom. we showed even more restraint for an unmanned drone that was flying directly over our ships, and they open fire on a manned helicopter that was observing at a distance.

Navy Choppers Exercise Mine-Clearing in Int'l Waters
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's naval forces exercised sea mine clearing on the fifth day of their massive military wargames underway in the international waters of the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean on Wednesday.

Iran's naval forces started massive wargames, dubbed as Velayat 90, in an area stretching from the East of the Strait of Hormoz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden on Saturday.

"The exercise for destroying floating mines was carried out by the Navy's RH choppers in the Velayat 90 wargames general zone," Commander of the Air Units of the Iranian Navy Captain Alireza Nayeri told reporters.

He stated that the exercise is aimed at providing safe passage for the navy vessels, adding that the mine clearing phase will be continued by the Navy's RH, SH and AB helicopters to the end of the 10-day wargames.

On Tuesday and on the fourth day of the naval wargames, the Iranian Navy started the tactical phase of the military exercises.

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi, who is also spokesman of the wargames, said that Iranian navy vessels embarked on laying mines for fortifying the country's coastal waters to prevent infiltration of hypothetical enemy vessels and submarines.

    Navy's Wargames Enter Tactical Phase
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Navy started the tactical phase of the military exercises underway in the international waters in the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean, a Navy commander said on Tuesday.

Iran's naval forces started massive wargames, dubbed as Velayat 90, in an area stretching from the East of the Strait of Hormoz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden on Saturday.

"After the accomplishment of the initial and expansion phases of Velayat 90, the tactical phase of the wargames was started this morning in the wargames general zone," Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi said.

He added that Iranian naval forces exercised confrontation against chemical attacks of the hypothetical enemy as part of the plan to boost their defense power in modern warfare.

Moussavi, who is also spokesman of the wargames, said that Iranian navy vessels embarked on fortifying the country's coastal waters to prevent infiltration of hypothetical enemy vessels and submarines.

The commander noted that Iranian forces also conducted tests in electronic warfare field using modern home-made electronic jamming equipment to disrupt enemy radar and contact systems.

Iran stages several air, land and sea wargames each year to test its newly produced weapons and equipments.

Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US.

Moussavi, who is also the spokesman of the wargames, added that the Navy's sea-based and land-based drones have conducted patrol and reconnaissance missions over hypothetical enemy vessels today.

He added that the air drills have played an important role in promoting the practical and operational knowledge and skills of the navy's young forces and personnel.

Default 'Really Easy' To Close Oil Strait: Iranian Admiral

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran would find it "really easy" to close the world's most important oil transit channel, the Strait of Hormuz at the Gulf's entrance, but would not do so right now, Iran's navy chief said Dec. 28.

"Shutting the strait for Iran's armed forces is really easy - or as we say (in Iran) easier than drinking a glass of water," Adm. Habibollah Sayari said in an interview with Iran's Press TV.

We would find it easy to sink the whole Iranian fleet in 6 hours.

Iran is proudly showing grainy video of a US aircraft carrier they say one of their UAV's was able to get close enough to and monitor, this comes only a few days after Iran said it fired warning shot at a manned US helicopter that got to close to their ships... this just goes to show the US is doing it utmost to try and maintain peace and did not retaliate for the shooting at the helicopter by lighting up the UAV.

Default Iran to Test-Fire Missiles in Hormuz War Games

    Finally, some decent New-Year fireworks!

TEHRAN - Iran, which has been carrying out war games in the Strait of Hormuz over the past week, is to test fire shorter- and longer-range missiles in the key oil waterway on Dec. 31, the navy said.

"Shorter- and longer-range, ground-to-sea, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles will be tested on Saturday," the ISNA news agency quoted navy spokesman Commodore Mahmoud Mousavi on Dec. 30.
