Well that is the number one flame-gathering question in the airsoft d-board world. Heh. But in the interest of being helpful, I will point out a few things.

First, most AEGs perform comparably in their stock form. Some are more accurate, some shoot a bit faster (ROF) but generally speaking they are all in the same basic category.

Second, Tokyo Marui makes what are generally accepted as the best all around AEGs. Some people are hard core Classic Army fans, but most people agree that Marui has the best bang for buck value.

In terms of what to get, pick a gun you like. If you like Armalites, pick one of those up. If you are a CQB nut, go MP5. Its all choice. performance in airsoft isn'n nearly so varied (in stock trim) as their real steel counterparts.

Except for the G36 and XM8. They're both made of plastic.

Best bang for the buck would be wrong to say.
I would suggest that TM makes most reliable aegs as long as you don't tamper with anything.
Otherwise get wichever you want, and what mostly differs among the TM aegs are the barrel length, longer barrel means better precision, but on the other hand a psg1 isn't very good in cqb.
ICS and CA makes aegs with metal bodies and barrels, that put out the bbs at slightly higher velocities than TM, internally they look alot like each other, some people say CA and/or ICS has crappy internals.
Most TM parts fits the two mentioned above, and vice versa.

Ok, but i would like to get something with a metal bod. I take it Tokyo Mauri make only plastic. And Classic Army are the only metal bods. around?
I'm more og a CQB fan, but i think i might go for an M16, M15 or an M4A1.

ICS makes good metal body guns.
    The M4's are very nice.
    www.georgiaairsoft.com has them in-stock.

Ok, i guess its TM, the difference between metal bods is just weight really?
And exactly what weapon do u suggest i go for since i'm just really a beginner?

No, metal bodies do help, because they are more durable, but Classic Army bodys are crap. Theyre only alittle tougher than TM bodies. Would you rather have a gun that is heftier, and a little more durable but could break down 3 mags from now, or a gun you need to be alittle more careful with but keep on firing fine for 3/4 a year?

TM AK's are the best out of the box guns all around. If you have the extra money, go with the ICS M4 Carbine, but stay away from there MP-5s, those things strip through gears like there's no tomorrow.... or at least everyone I've seen has. Stay away from classic army, period, if you're new. They are nothing but trouble. The bodies are nice, but the internals are crap. The version 4 is supposed to be good, but no. I have a V.4 CA gun, and I've had nothing but problems, any airsofter in the province of BC can attest to that... I've spent several hundred dollars trying to get it working properly, and it still doesn't. CA guns are not for begginers, at best, the build quality is hit or miss. If your CA gun works fine, don't bother bugging me about my comments here. CA is crap, and that's a fact. If your stock CA gun works, consider yourself lucky as hell.
