thought about it, but it would take out the effect of "before you know it" and "after you found out".

There are some good US field manuals on mines and improvised munitions if you search for them. They are usually a good read.

There is a good Documentary out there about demining efforts in various countries which includes helmet cam video of the deminiers in action

I went to the Cambodian Landmine museum back in 2007. It was quite interesting, the guy who runs it takes the money raised from the museum and demines villages all over the country. I have some pictures somewhere I'll try and find them and put them up.

I live in an area (Golan) where more than 1 million mines are spread out, not counting the UXO's, roam the fields and ranges on a daily basis.
Thanks for posting some of your posts but the BBC one was, while instructive, some bad third worldist propaganda ****.

Let's be honest, land mines have a role and a future in war operations, the only thing that could be required is a proper mapping and good self destruction rate for the air or artillery clusters...
give up on the emotional ****, it shouldn'r work here.

the issue is barely touched after 12 posts. The "pro" argument is military to a certain degree (if some military outposts in Afghanistan were properly protected by minefields, some incidents would have turned another way). And there is a "contra" argument for the military too. But from a civilian perspective - they have to live in these areas, when all conflicts ended - the "contra" argument is at 100 %, I presume.

You DO NOT TOUCH a ****ing PMN mine. Why? Because there is no way to actually tell which version it is before handling them.

Not only some models have built-in anti-handling protection, worse a smart azzhole will put a MUV fuze inside every few one, making the maneuver showed detonating the mine instead of diffusing it (especially in place like the Balkans or Africa where mines were a vicious political mean to an end, not necessarily a tactical military move)...

Yes you can defuse a hundred as shown, and the hundred and one will blow your arms off...

Either you use a mine clearance vehicle or you detonate them on site but you do not manipulate them with such an easy going attitude.
