He's a public figure. He'll have a very hard time winning a defamation case.

I am not sure that winning matters to him. There were plenty of witnesses to the fight, and at least some of them will testify, and that testimony will be made public. This leads me to believe that Ventura believes he was not punched in the face, and he just wants the record set straight. Of course, he may be completely delusional.

I predict two things are gonna happen.

#1. Chris Kyle will more than likely have witnesses that'll come out the woodwork.
#2: A couple weeks post-trial Jesse is back on Alex Jones claiming Obama made a bodydouble of him or some ****.

It's the same thng with these guys, everytime.

Kyle had a book to sell, not surprising of the timing between the release of the book and his claim that he punched Ventura after he stated 'SEALs deserved to die' for being in Iraq.

So will Ventura (not his real name by the way) finally have to admit under oath that he was never actually a SEAL? I find it amusing and ironic that he of all people is accusing someone else of misrepresenting the truth.

Everything said in that video is basically true. Both SEALs and UDT had to go through BUD/S. However, that is pretty much where the similarities end. During the Vietnam war when Ventura served, the SEALs and UDT teams performed very different jobs. SEALs were mainly front line units who saw serious combat and had the losses to show for it. UDTs generally saw limited combat and performed more of a support role in the war. With all respect to Don Shipley there was a difference, and to claim you were a SEAL when you were actually UDT was a big deal during that time.

Andrew, it's semantics. They are both cut from the same cloth.

Fair enough, but for what it's worth I've read accounts from other SEALs that served during Vietnam that did have a problem with it. That was my reason for posting. Shipley served during the 80s so probably has a different perspective. It honestly doesn't bother me personally.

edit: Bill Salisbury is a retired SEAL Commander who also spent time in the UDTs. Read his article for another perspective on the issue: http://cursor.org/stories/seal_or_udt.htm
