Adam Cooper has reported that Maldonado has been handed a 20s penalty which puts him out of the points and puts Bruno Senna 10th

Should have gotten a race ban. Webber doesn't dare to defend against Maldonado, because he knows he will crash into him.

Other drivers agree that it's dangerous to attempt fighting with Maldonado.

If he can't race without crashing out and ruining other drivers weekends because of down right retarded moves, then he has got no place in F1.

That said, what a race! First time Valencia doesn't bore the sh!t out of me

Bernie said 20 races next year and no new tracks!

Default Marussia's De Villota remains critical but stable

Marussia test driver Maria de Villota has been taken to hospital after being involved in an accident during a straight-line test at Duxford on Tuesday. De Villota’s car struck a stationary vehicle at the Cambridgeshire airfield.

“At approximately 09.15hrs BST this morning, Maria De Villota had an accident in the team’s MR-01 race car at Duxford Airfield where she was testing the car for the first time,” the team explained in a statement.

“The accident happened at the end of her first installation run and involved an impact with the team’s support truck. Maria has been transferred to hospital. Once her medical condition has been assessed a further statement will be issued.”

The Spaniard has raced in a variety of single-seater and sports car categories, including Spanish Formula Three, the Daytona 24 Hours, Euroseries 3000 and the Superleague Formula championship.

She is the daughter of ex-Formula One driver and British Formula One series champion Emilio de Villota and joined Marussia’s test line-up in March.

Marussia test driver Maria de Villota is conscious and undergoing further medical assessment in hospital, after crashing during a straight-line test at Duxford on Tuesday morning. De Villota’s car struck the team’s support truck shortly after the end of her first installation run at the Cambridgeshire airfield.

“The team can confirm that Maria was transferred by ambulance from Duxford Airfield, where the accident happened, to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge,” said a Marussia statement.

“Since Maria’s arrival at the hospital at approximately 10.45 hours this morning, she has been receiving the best medical attention possible at the hospital, which is the region’s major trauma centre. Maria is conscious and medical assessments are on-going.

"The team will await the outcome of these assessments before providing further comment. The team’s first priority at this time is Maria and her family.”

As well as racing in a variety of single-seater and sports car categories, De Villota completed 300 kilometres of running for Team Lotus (now Caterham) at Paul Ricard last August.

Following Maria De Villota’s accident at Duxford in the UK on Tuesday, Marussia have released a further update on the medical condition of their test driver.

De Villota was taken from the airfield to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and a surgical team embarked on a lengthy operation to address the serious head and facial injuries she sustained. The Spaniard, who has lost her right eye as a result of the crash, remains in a critical but stable condition.

Marussia team principal John Booth, with the consent and support of De Villota’s family, said: “We are grateful for the medical attention that Maria has been receiving and her family would like to thank the Neurological and Plastics surgical teams. However it is with great sadness that I must report that, due to the injuries she sustained, Maria has lost her right eye.

“Maria’s care and the wellbeing of her family remain our priority at this time. Her family are at the hospital and we are doing everything possible to support them. We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding with regard to updates on Maria’s condition. We will provide further information when it is appropriate to do so and with consideration for her family.

“In the meantime, we would all like to take this opportunity to praise the emergency services at Duxford Airfield, who were on stand-by yesterday, as is usual procedure for a Formula One test. With regard to the accident, we have embarked on a very comprehensive analysis of what happened and this work continues for the moment.

“Finally, we have been overwhelmed by messages of support for Maria, her family and the Team and we would like to express our sincere gratitude for those.”

Di Villota was taking part in her first test with Marussia after joining the team in March.

Speedy recovery to Maria. A stark reminder of the dangers of this great sport.

Listening to the audio, I didn't hear any acceleration or even a throttle blip. Weird.

Thanks Glock for parking it on the start/finish straight like a ****. Button admittedly left that charge a little late, but still a crap piece of driving, by a poor driver in a ****ty car.

On the upside watching the BBC desperately try to fill air time for hours is quite entertaining
