Pretty much. Whether it was "wiping off the map", "pushing into the dustbins of History", or "making it disappear", it does sound like a "Delenda Carthago".
So the whole stuff is about some "poetry" that means the same?

He says this like every week

I dont get why this is even a discussion.
None of the Muslim states supported the establishment a Jewish state in the Middle East. They tried to destroy it immediatly after the states founding. The only thing that stopped them was military force. And military power is still the only thing that guarantess the existence of Israel. It would be destroyed immediatly if it doesnt defend itsself.
How can this be news to anyone? The Iranians are merely more vocal about their viewpoint, it is really nothing special.
I also cant imagine any Israeli is truly outraged about this. They know the attitude of their neighbors very well.
Found it:
But it was't Ahmadinejab but Aref - president of Iraq. Said 31 may 1967.“The existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified. This is our opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948. Our goal is clear - to wipe Israel off the map”

If i remember correctly US president said something similar to what Ahmadinejab but about eastern germany. Wich was interpreted later as "will to peacefully unify both countries" yet i canot find source for that now.
My guess is: Ahmadinejab did't say that, and quote was transformed into something that already existed in culture.
Israel and Israelis do not care about statements of hatred. But we act when the people behind these statements seek weapons of mass destruction. The combination of viewpoint/attitude and means (nuclear weapons) is something that we will never allow.
See Osirak and Deir ez-Zor.
