    Default Bush's Speech

    What did everybody think?

I only want answers from people who actually watched it. No "the speech had to suck because Bush sucks".

I thought it was a great speech. ESPECIALLY when compared to Kerrys acceptance speech.

I thought it was really quite incredible. Everything about it, from the contrasts to Kerry, his vision for America, his vision for the world, and his plans for policy ( * cough * Medical Liability Reform * cough * ), were simply phenomenal. I was quite surprised that he could deliver such an incredible speech.

I thought it was pretty good. Not his best speech but an informative one none the least.

I did like that he addressed the whole medical liability reform issue. I just wish he would have talked about doing something about illegal immigration into the country.

Where in West Virginia are you from?

You must have been pretty happy when he was talking about those economic growth zones.

I really liked the speech, he did a very good job. I really liked how he put humor in it about how he talks and walks. It annoyed me that the "peace loving" protesters tried to cause problems there. Its ironic that a lot of those protesters who believe so highly of peace try to cause so many problems.

The Eastern Panhandle of WV has been filling the coffers of Charleston for years. We have been an economic growth zone in WV for the past 16 years.
So it really didn't peak my interest much.

Now thats a poll that could be used as a very preliminary 'exit-poll'...republicans get 95% of the votes

Anyway i havent watched his speech but from what i read was, at least, entertaining (i am not criticizing bush right now its just that i find all political speeches entertaining).

I heard that his daughters spoke the other day...could anyone brief me a bit on that? What were they talking about? I m curious just in the sense to see how a politician can utilize his kids (nothing wrong with that) for his campaign...thanx

I didn't see it, but I read the transcript.

I can't say I'm impressed with his promises toward medicare, education, et al. They'll last two seconds in the conservative congress, and Bush knows that.

And I'm laughing at the part where he said Americans wanted a small government. This from the administration that passed the patriot act and wants to ban gay marriage.

I really dug the content of the speech - lawsuit reform, malpractice reform, comparing & contrasting his & Kerry's policies (without being nasty), and especially liked the quote from the 1946 newspaper saying how the occupation of Germany was a disaster.

But let's face it, Bush is not a great orator - he's got a long way to go on polish & flair. Then again, that may be why I like him, since he doesn't seem as phony and rehearsed as others.

    I gave it a "good"

I thought it was by far the best speech of the convention, and Zell Millers was hard to beat.

But he said exactly what needed to be said.

I just watched John Kerry's follow up. What a crock. Instead of discussing issues like Bush did, all John Kerry has done for the past 15 minutes is insult the bush administration and defend himself. Shut up, grow up, and start to talk about what needs to be done to make this country greater. Stop talking about having plans and comitees. Tell us what those plans are. Form those comitees.

Kerry's campaign is done IMHO. His whole campaign is "I got two purple hearts". Everytime he speaks, he is on the defensive.

Did Kerry mention Vietnam in his speech tonight? I only saw part of it. He keeps saying that he wants to get to the issues and into the future of the country but every time I see him give a speech, it's always focuses on his service in Vietnam.

Yes. He tried to say how **** Cheney never served in the military but he did... John Edwards hasnt served in the forces, and even his politcal service hasnt been to lengthy. But you dont see the GOP insulting him for it.

In one scentence he says how he shouldnt be arguing about things 30 years ago, but then in the next scentence he criticizes **** Cheney for not serving in Vietnam...

    Make up your mind...

Like his agenda or not, his speech address domestic issues more than Kerry's speech.

Hey Seoul, how do feel about Bush's right hand man...Bill Frist's philosophy? I don't keep up much with the medical issues as much as I should.
