    Default Turkish New Type Patrol Boat pictures

    Hi everybody

    On 23 August 2007, a contract was signed between SSM and Dearsan Shipyard. This shipyard was chosen to build 16 New Class Patrol Boats for Turkish Navy. This class of patrol boats will conduct patrol, security and ASW duties in and around important harbors, bases and at their approaches...
    Dearsan builded these boats in 4 batches. One of the important goals of this project is to have i of indigenous input. This is the largest project to day where Turkish Navy outsourced the construction of ships to private shipyards....



    And Turkmenian bought 2 of these patrol boats...

    Lenght:55.8 m
    Beam:8.85 m
    Draught:2.25 m
    Speed:25 knots
    Range:1.000 km

    Weapons:

    -1xDardo twin 40 mm gun (900 RPM)
    -2x Stamp automatic 12.7 mm gun platform
    -1x Aselsan ASW rocket launcher (6 Cell, 3 km range)
    -Depth charges

    Thanks for the pics. I appreciate more and more countries going indifenious these days with their weapon systems- You never know if and when you're on the receiving end of an embargo and moreover you're more of a pushover if you're dependent on outsourced military hardware.
    With Turkish growth rates and development, I'd head the same direction. Congrats to the new ships.

    It is very impressive what Turkey has achieved especially in the naval technology. A fast growing defence industry indeed!
