For Philippines case,
didn't SWAT happen to be using a type of bomb that does not work on certain type of glass, which the bus was using?
Gotta love the guy firing wildly into the air after the show's nearly over.
I dont believe it was a training exercise, iirc it was a demonstration from Kazakhstan for visiting Russian President (Forget when so not sure if it was Putin/Medvedev), if I remember correctly the area is surrounded by a huge ring of riot police.. The large explosion was probably someone probably being a little too carried away in setting their charge size..
as said by void, the BTR wasnt likely shooting into the bus or anything it was probably firing for distraction and indeed dramatic effect (hence it came in from a totally different position.. The notion being I imagine to overwhelm the hostage takers with noise and aggression whilst moving in an assault team from a different location..
You are analyzing what was likely just a demonstration event too seriously
Bingo
Haha that video, I linked that one in the music thread ages ago, DJs advertising a 'gopniki' themed event, pretty awesome thanks for reminding me of it
Hmm remind me never to be taken hostage in the Phillipines or Kazakstan.
Not SWAT but check out these S Korean riot police in training. If you think the earlier part is boring (and it's not), skip to 5:30 and beyond. Real molotov cocktail and burning propane tanks...

S. Korea riot police training video was fantastic. Do we in the US have any units with that level of preparedness? Some very impressive coordination and tactics used by the S. Koreans.
