b)this is a training exercise obviously
c)nobody died or was seriously injured
d)worst injury was a slight concussion for the guy with the wand
e)certainly an effective way of solving hostage rescues imo.

I dont believe it was a training exercise, iirc it was a demonstration from Kazakhstan for visiting Russian President (Forget when so not sure if it was Putin/Medvedev), if I remember correctly the area is surrounded by a huge ring of riot police.. The large explosion was probably someone probably being a little too carried away in setting their charge size..

And then run up with a stick bomb thing and blow half the bus away, only to have guys shooting widely all around it?

as said by void, the BTR wasnt likely shooting into the bus or anything it was probably firing for distraction and indeed dramatic effect (hence it came in from a totally different position.. The notion being I imagine to overwhelm the hostage takers with noise and aggression whilst moving in an assault team from a different location..

You are analyzing what was likely just a demonstration event too seriously
