    Howard.

Latham is a loud mouth and bridge burner with the US.

He hasnt convinced me in any way why he would be a better leader than howard.

    btw... its labor :P

I think its a tough call really. Howard is good for Defence and Economy, but Latham is good for International Relations and social policies. I suppose it's down to where your priorities lie, so its not suprising that most people here are voting Liberal. I haven't decided yet.

i will vote for labour, but only because at this current point they are the lesser of what i describe as two evil's. Australia has the misfortune of a system by where governments progressivly errode. One party get's power make's a few changes and then slowly loses touch with the voters. They stay in power until they begin to slip up and make outlandish comment's and decisions in what i describe as 'in the simplistic future of australia' that is to say that they are benificial to an very unabstracted view. By this point the voters have had enough and the party is voted out. The new party takes to government and makes a few changes and then slowly loses touch with the voters. They then stay in power until they slip up and make outlandish comments and decisions that are what i describe as 'in the simplistic future of australia'..they then get voted out and the other party takes government and the cycle begins again............

I'm not an Australian citizen but I would've voted for Latham because I'm an Australian student.

What I like about Australian democracy is that it's more about policies and less about personalities. The politicans give factual promises and Australians mostly know them. Unlike in America where people would vote for "better personality" and politicians just constantly give those fuzzy promises like "Let's make America secure" or "Let's make America free" or "We're going to improve the economy".

So Australians vote based on their priotities (one middle class guy might want or believe in a bit different things than his neighbor); and that's what a democracy should be.

    Note for any Non-Australians here:

It is COMPULSARY to vote if your 18 and over, not voluntary.

If you dont vote it's a $150 fine, you can apply to vote by mail (armed forces do this) or you better have a good excuse (if your in a car accident going to a polling center you get off obviously).

I dont want either as my PM personally, Howard is too much of an ass kisser (we are America's ally, but not bush's source for unlimited tounge enima's....), he is also 60-something and out of touch with what I want (Im 19) and I cant relate with him.

On the other hand Latham is too anti-US in some of his comments. the fact that he has a "bad past" is a good thing to me, he's fkn human for gods sake, Im not perfect either, and someone who proclaims to be an angel is just eh devil in disguise IMO. He's also younger, so I can relate to him easier, but I dont like his stance on the war in Iraq and such.

Ill probably give my vote to a independent or something that gives the votes to howard in the end.

NB:fun at the booths, when swamped with ppl saying vote <name here> go, yep sure, Ill make sure not to vote for <name here>.... watch them steam... bwahahah fun for the whole family...

All in all, i have come to the conclusion that Latham is an absolute idiot, he's only policy is disagreeing with anything the Liberal party places foward however beneficial this may be to the Australian public. If Labor were to win the next election the consequences would be detremential to Australia for generations.

Latham sent Liverpool city council bankrupt- what will he do to the federal budget?

Unless you're not registered/have never been registered .
There are some teenagers of voting age who never registered because they say that they're not interested in politics.

If you've previously been registered and you missed voting - without any valid excuse - then expect to be fined.
