If they are the ones who did that, I have no problem with it

Sparexenith,
Are you having second thoughts about your support for the military coup?
The Maldives' new president expanded his Cabinet on Sunday to include religious conservatives who have been demanding the introduction of strict Islamic laws in the Indian Ocean nation that relies on high-end tourism.

It looks like the country will be the Saudi Arabia in paradise.
It wasn't a "Coup" India and US back down from calling it a "Coup"...
About this video I was been truthful about Police brutality in cracking down the arsonists.

I thought they (Ex-Prez) blamed resort owners now backing down from before when he blamed extremists. We are one nation under one god & one religion. It has been like that for thousands of years. Maldivians don't like when people try to play with it. It was one of the reasons for Nasheed's fall. We aren't extremists but very sensible about religious issues.
When he is busted using alcohol (Prohibited in Islam)... People will turn against him.
Went to Maldives many years ago on a diving trip. I did not feel I was in a Muslim country. First the Airport is on one island, Male is on another island and our resort (Helingili) was an isolated atoll 6hrs boat ride from the airport. Didnt even set foot on Male. I do not think there was a problem with alcohol but as far as we were concern, strictly no drinking and diving.

This is a serious concern for the UK, US and India.
I condemn this stupid behaviour of the mob as well, but how exactly is it going to harm UK/US/India interests? If the Maledives would decide to turn themselves into an islamic theocracy it wouldn´t matter much for the ROW until they start to host terror organizations.
Did you ever study geography.
50-70% of the ocean trade passes through the Indian Ocean.
The Maldives are in the middle of the I.O. in between India and Diego Garcia (UK island with a US base).
Pakistan may take an opportunity to use a Maldives "Taleban" government and set up a base on Gan to counter India's Farkhor Air Base in Tajikistan.
So what? Would they have any means to interrupt the ocean trade unless the allmighty turns out to be a muslim and grants them superior firepower?
