The considerations may be multiple, but it is foremost a question of deterrent.
Since 2006, Hezbollah keeps the Northern border quiet because it is deterred from operating from there. But it initiated some failed attempts to attack Israel abroad in the last weeks (which all failed up to yesterday). Gantz' statement made clear wherever Hezbollah's attack would occur it will be hit in Lebanon.

Quite an incompetent showing thus far for Iran. If this is the first chapter of the conflict to come it does not bode well for their capabilities.

Agreed that Hezbollah is keeping quiet but blaming them direct for yesterday and not Iran is what I question here. Iran is far and Hezbollah is close therefore easier job.

Iranians thus far are proving to be clumsy and shoddy. Let's hope this is the reality behind all their military efforts.

Nethanyau (and Barak) blamed Iran for New Delhi and Tbilisi and did not mention Hezbollah.
Hezbollah was related to the earlier failed attempt in Bangkok in January.

'Israel warned India of possible terror plot'

New Delhi media say Israeli intelligence forwarded list of 50 Iranian nationals to Indian counterparts two weeks before attack on Israeli embassy

    Ynet

Israel warned Indian authorities of a possible attack in New Delhi, various Indian media outlets reported Tuesday.

A report in the Hindustan Time said that Israeli intelligence warned India of an imminent threat to Israeli establishments and individuals, giving them a list of about 50 individuals – all Iranian nationals – believed to be involved in such a plot.

"A list of about 50 Iranians was submitted by a high-level Israeli delegation to the Union home ministry over two weeks ago… Israel requested that the individuals named on the list be kept under surveillance," a New Delhi security source told the newspaper.

It is very hard for me not to question things .......but if a scientist of my arch enemy died in an explosion ........over 2 weeks ago ......... I would worried about potential attacks and issue a list of people to watch.

And Iran blames Israel for the assassination of the scientists. I haven't seen proof for either.

The difference is that while Iran is quick to issue denials, Israel doesn't give a damn about what Iran says. She didn't comment any of the reports regarding the scientists.
