Faith in the StA Hannover = somewhat restored.
This is gonna be a great blow to Merkel's bid for Chancellorship in 2013.Link
Prosecutors are calling on Parliament to lift the German president's immunity from prosecution — deepening the head of state's troubles in an affair that has had him on the defensive for the past two months.Christian Wulff has been under pressure since December to explain a private loan he received from a wealthy friend's wife when he governed Lower Saxony state. He also has been criticized over a furious call he made to a newspaper editor before it reported on the loan.
That was followed by further allegations that hotel stays and other things were paid for by friends of Wulff during his time as governor.
Prosecutors said Thursday that there is now an "initial suspicion" that Wulff himself improperly accepted and granted benefits, but they did not elaborate.

good - that guy needs a lot more than just a slap on the fingers...
Wulff is a disgrace to the state and the nation. In a more civilzed world he would be beheaded on the Frankfurter Römerberg and a new President would be directly elected by the people. He has no personal honour, being so easy to bribe. I wonder if the rumours about his current wife (codename Victoria) would be true and surface in public if he would still hold on to his post? Playing the religous card and getting the divorce once he is safe in office shows the real character of this guy. In fact I would prefer people like Strauss or Brandt, they didn´t pretend to be saints and they still had some cojones! But where do you get that calibre nowadays?
That will remain...
Victoria's Secret!
Seriously, the fact that german prosecutors are subordinate to the executive branch is one of the few real flaws of our judicial system. We should have investigating judges like in France (and like we had here until 1975).
Now it seems the pressure was too great on McAllister to hold back the hounds any longer but this should have been done months ago.
Wulff was a horrible choice as president. I think Gauck could have been a way better alternative. Nevertheless, it's getting ridiculous, and something needs to be done about this case asap.
What is Victoria's secret?
I don't follow German politics too closely so this is the first I am reading about the problems with your President.
Stuff some men have to buy on Valentine.
It is an unconfirmed rumour about our President's second Wife having worked in a upscale Brothel before her marriage under the Alias of "Victoria"
It is most likely nonsense and the "Victoria's secret" pun was made by Harald Schmidt, something like the german equivalent to Jay Leno.,
This is NOT why the Hannover Prosecution has asked for a lift of immunity.
The actual trouble Wulff is in is that he seems to have had too many "friends in high places" who gave him a lot of gifts and freebies during his time as Ministerpräsident (comparable to US State Govenor) of the State of Lower Saxony.
Problem was until now, all that could be proven was that he violated Lower Saxony State law, but as President he can only be subject of investigation if he is alledged to have violated federal law.
