Where one can find Gauck's thoughts or views on foreign policy or just simple rundown? I read in German.

Its not about "honest Germans" (after all we have plenty of those cases - Cem Özdemir, who sat on the same table "Gauk election table" besides that ugly Hog Roth had to step down himself because he stole from the taxpayer, remember ? ) , its about having a press and public opinion able to dispose these types of politicians.

His views on foreign policy are still dealing with pre-1989...he is a staunch pro-US supporter, dislikes communism and reflects on the deportation if the Germans of the former eastern provinces in the WWII aftermath and stuff like this. I highly doubt he is even up to date with what is happening nowadays in Europe. He would make a good major of Rostock, but nothing more.

Hm could not find a good synopsis.

Generally one probably can deduct a lot of his views from his former and current positions / books etc though (or wikipedia).

[*******#000000] He has written on Soviet-era concentration camps such as the NKVD Special Camp No. 1[*******#000000], the crimes of communism, and political oppression in East Germany, and contributed to The Black Book of Communism[*******#000000]. Gauck has criticized the political left of ignoring communist crimes.[18][*******#000000] The Independent[*******#000000] has described him as "Germany's answer to Nelson Mandela[*******#000000]."[19][*******#000000] He has been described by Chancellor Angela Merkel[*******#000000] as a "true teacher of democracy" and a "tireless advocate of freedom, democracy, and justice."[20]
[*******#000000]Since 2003, he has been chairman of the association Gegen Vergessen – Für Demokratie[*******#000000], and he served on the Management Board of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia[*******#000000] 2001–2004.[21]
[*******#000000]Gauck is a member of Atlantik-Brücke[*******#000000], an organisation promoting German-American friendship. He is also the chairman of Gegen Vergessen – Für Demokratie[*******#000000], an organisation combating left-wing and right-wing extremism.
So he's pro-democracy, pro-US and anti-communist / anti-totalitarian on both extremes of the political spectrum.

So you think that only the German press discovers corruption scandals, or what are you going to say? Corruption is everywhere, and most people are corrupt. It begins with a bottle of wine, an invitation to an expensive dinner and ends with money in the suitcase. The difference is only how strong your economic base is to deal with this drain, noting more, noting less. Fortunately for us, the German economy is very strong for many different reasons including historical fortune as well, so all the Maschmeyers and Wulffs cannot harm the state like the Papandreus and Karamanlis could harm the Greek state with its weak and subsidy-dependent econmy.
BTW I don´t like Greens and Communists alike, IMHO they are two sides of the same medal...but I don´t like patting my own shoulder as well.

The difference between the Greens and the Linkspartei is mostly that Greens get invited to Maschmeiers parties while leftists are not.

More astute analysis from your only Bible-based news service.
Ooooh, so sad: The Christians deleted their Ede-for-president prophecy. Now who could have guessed...

They're probably desperate to find what conection this Gauck fellow could possibly have to the Pope, or whether he was in the Hitlerjugend...

Somebody here said nominating Gauck for president would piss of the Lefties... Spot on. They are thinking of nominating Beate Klarsfeld. http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutsc...816834,00.html

I dunno if this is better or worse than Uta Ranke-Heinemann in 1999.
