His views on foreign policy are still dealing with pre-1989...he is a staunch pro-US supporter, dislikes communism and reflects on the deportation if the Germans of the former eastern provinces in the WWII aftermath and stuff like this. I highly doubt he is even up to date with what is happening nowadays in Europe. He would make a good major of Rostock, but nothing more.

Generally one probably can deduct a lot of his views from his former and current positions / books etc though (or wikipedia).

BTW I don´t like Greens and Communists alike, IMHO they are two sides of the same medal...but I don´t like patting my own shoulder as well.
The difference between the Greens and the Linkspartei is mostly that Greens get invited to Maschmeiers parties while leftists are not.
