And we had a decent defence at base as well, which you cannot see on the screen. I doubt however even if one guy dedicated his entire forces to the middle that we would have stopped the rush if the entire opposing team did it, as this guy almost overran our base entirely by himself.

Point is, this kind of game play isn't fun and ruins the suspension of disbelief.
I would argue that rushes are legit tactics. Mass + firepower + speed = what tanks are supposed to do.

Because he found a hole and exploited it? I play Counter strike and no one cares when 1 guy slips through to somewhere because some guy couldn't kill him in time. And they don't care if they left the bombsite undefended.

That is not a ambush position. That is a take a few shots that will not stop them position. Some forces on the forest on the left of the road will stop it. Yours will just kill a few.

Im sorry but I've been playing RTS for years and I know rushing are legit tactics. But in other RTS's rushing actually requires a bit of skill, either through using certain build orders or micromanagement of your units.

The only "tactics" I see in this game is massing a bunch of cheap units and literally clicking one button in the opponents base, then watching the fireworks.

EdisonTrent. I almost guarantee you, 100%, that even if we had a dedicated ambush position that would not have stopped it if their entire team rushed. What you can't see is the ATGM nest and infantry in the woods back at base. I've had another guy in another game mow through three players who did have ambush positions using similar "Tactics". There is a problem in this game when it comes to massing cheap units and I have no doubt it will be addressed in a patch. For example, getting 10 APC's and driving them right up to a group of tanks and releasing the infantry. This kind of BS ruins the game for me, even though it's the most effective thing to do.

EDIT: I just want to clarify if you're caught with your pants down, then you should be punished for it. But it seems in any match when three players get their blob of cheap units together, it's not a matter of skill tactics or even recon, those blobs are virtually unstoppable. Yes sometimes I've had artillery stun them, and I've certainly had my units take out plenty of them (and have stopped the rush in the lasts case), but it's just far too effective for the given level of skill required to pull it off. THAT is my complaint.

Ive discovered I've just been doing it wrong.

Now that I've tinkered with vetting, fully vetted FAGOT teams in defence in depth situations stop any attack in their tracks.

I've moved completely away from armour and gone for mechanised infantry forces and find them working exceedingly well. Having fully upgraded artillery helps a lot too.

Like I said... infantry/anti tank and morale killers not tanks. Glad you figured out a strat that works.

I think what this game needs is mines and obstacles. Nothing like stopping these annoying tank rushes than a minefield or tank trap field covered with ATGMs. Of course, with obstacles should come engineers.

I unlocked the Jaguar 2 yesterday which has great accuracy and AP. Though I only ended up in Pact teams yesterday so I could not try it

As for mines etc - yes those would be great. (Maybe the German Skorpion vehicle should be introduced in the game)

If you want to change the horrible shortcut layout for your keyboard, then have a look at this: http://www.wargame-ee.com/forum/view...it=keybindings

Helps a lot when you have "quick move" and "tactical interface" near the WASD keys.

I am hoping as more people get familiar with the maps/more skill that this rushing dies off.
RPG inf in the woods along the road woud have raped him.

Anyone tried the Roland on Marder chassis so far? I can't see much of a difference between the Marder and the AMX chassis (beside speed and driving range)

Oh, and do our great masters of Cold War strategy have replays to share? I am always keen to learn from others

I just had an epic 1v1.

I was ahead all game, except at the end the guy snuck some delta force into the back of my base. I SHOT DOWN the chopper but they still lived. Five of them snuck into my base and killed about 510 points worth of artillery, one 75 point AA, and my base HQ unit with ONE guy left.

Did a few matches with Victis and Corrupt against randoms. Won all but one, which was a draw because of their magical ****ing buratino, which just wouldn't die, and the ridiculous AA cover.

The motherfvckers are better armoured than Leopards for christs sake. 30 rockets. They're only like a 3km range, so they hit a stupidly small area. If theres some AA in the area, you won't get near it with air power and you just have to put up with bollocks like this every feew seconds

Yeah welcome to MRLS/rocket artillery. Be glad it wasnt a smerch hidden in the back of his base protected by AA.

I had a guy on my team buy nothing except a smerch and a few suicide units, and clean up the entire opposing force. Quite often the games are won due to those things with the guys that use them getting 2500+ points by themselves.
