Damn! This guy really needs a time time machine!
My Dutch is rusty. Maybe some of the Dutch members can be arsed to translate a few more paragraphes of this De Telegraaf article?Link
British Islamic Scholar Sheikh Haitham al-Haddad said in Amsterdam that the stoning of women "is sometimes necessary." Also, he who renounces Islam would deserve death penalty in a Muslim country. Al-Haddad made these statements Friday night in the De Balie debate center in Amsterdam.
Haitham al-Haddad leads the UK's Islamic Sharia Council and presides the Muslim Research and Development Foundation in London.
Damn! This guy really needs a time time machine!
completely insane, this guy is seriously retarded...this has nothing to do with free speech...
Al-Haddad further declared that the islamic punishment for adultery is stoning. For both men and women. And: "If I were to commit adultery, I would request to be stoned". The sharia scolar even said to receive a lot of requests by western women, who committed adultery, to go to a islamic country in order to be stoned.
One of the other participants, Green-Left parliamentarian Tofik Dibi, asked if this was the face of islam. Al-Haddad answered that this seemed to be what those present wanted to talk about most. He himself expected to be able to discuss islamic finance among other things.
..........
something about the venue being sold out and lots of security and the participants
..........
something about the original invitation to a debate at the VU being cancelled due the commotion, Al-Haddad's alledged hate-speach regarding jews, the Balie's invitation than following all this because extreme ideas should be fought through debate
..........
something about Al-Haddad not making any friends during his visit and his refusal to sit at the same table as a unveiled woman for the NTR programme De Halve Maan, presenter Naeeda Aurangzeb then leaving under protest and accusing Al-Haddad of hijacking her religion.
Fouad el Haji, of Netwerk Vrijzinnige Marokkaanse Nederlanders, saying that Al-Haddad's teachings had a destructive effect on society.
Several parties in parliament wanted to stop Al-Haddad from entering the country but this was not legally possible.
That's about the gist of it.
Thanks, Tercio!
Some of them are really living in Middle Ages
al-Haddad trolling as usual. He should stick to issuing fatwa's against mortgages.
He should be persecuted for incitement to murder. Religious notjobs all over the world commit crimes and refer to hate preachers like him.
Sound believable. The sharia scolar even said to receive a lot of requests by western women, who committed adultery, to go to a islamic country in order to be stoned.
He-he, there is one thing all these journaloosers miss. It's pretty much obvious what the ideas this dude has, and what he stands for. What is indeed interesting is the list of mosques he's visited in the Netherlands. To put things in useful perspective.
On pair with
http://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2012/02/14/...-op-een-kaart/ this would be indeed interesting information about "multicultural" society in the NL.
