Default Boy, 7, branded a racist for asking :'Are you brown because you come from Africa?'

The mother of a seven-year-old boy was told to sign a school form admitting he was racist after he asked another pupil about the colour of his skin.
Elliott Dearlove had asked a five-year-old boy in the playground whether he was ‘brown because he was from Africa’.
His mother, Hayley White, 29, said she received a phone call last month to say her son had been at the centre of a ‘racist incident’.
She was then summoned to a meeting with Elliott, his teacher and the deputy head of Griffin Primary School in Hull.

School staff? Hell, that'd happen to him if he were to ask the question HERE.

It just seems like this trend is growing. I don't even know what to call it.

Reading the article, that what it sounds like to me. Unless there is something missing from the article.

Their journalistic style is basically "all aboard the outrage bus". We've never claimed they make up stories, simply that they're extremely biased in their writing.

The incident in question is retarded.

It seems like the word "racist" gets misused a lot.

From dictionary.com - a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

Hard to see how a 7-year old asking the question in that article dealt with determining achievement of indicated he thought his race was superior. Clearly the child was making a distinction about skin color and associating brown skin with African origin. But I don't see the other elements necessary for "racism" to be present.

But as usual, the comments around here are always the same. Lots of posting and very little if any thinking from the usual suspects.

I can't help but wonder if there isn't another aspect to this story that isn't being reported. Maybe I just find it so hard to believe that a school could be this ridiculous.
