Burn Pit on base run by locals, USAF dumps in Korans

Really doesnt take an Eisenhower to realize throwing a dozen Korans into the fire isnt going to down well and will immediately escalate in that part of the world. I just hope no one NATO, NGO, or Afghan winds up dead over this.

Honestly, we'll never be able to do enough apologizing and butt-kissing to make them lot join us in the 21st century.

    F'em.

x100....lets just leave and let the Taliban take over, it's what's going to happen anyway. Check back every 100 hundred years and see where they're at.

Obviously my comment is overly simplistic but that's about the base feeling most of us have I think.

It's because of media that war is so politicized. Soldiers have to be PR reps at the same time as war fighters. Kinda paradoxical, isn't it? Supposed to gain public support for the organization while killing people. There's a line to draw where people are being just too damm sensitive or crossing lines of freedom (like the comic riots), but this falls under one of those issues of respect. It's a huge part of their culture, and we need to respect that. Even if they don't respect ours by, say, burning the US flag. If we let them drag us down to their level, they'll beat us from experience.

Kind of like how old worn out U.S. flags are disposed of through the proper means.
