Nato says two of its soldiers have been shot dead in southern Afghanistan.

It said the attack was carried out by "two individuals, one believed to be an Afghan National Army service member and the other in civilian clothing".

Burn everyone and let God sort them out?

PS: I am not being serious about this.

PS2: What happened to that portable, unidirectional, microwave emitter that was supposed to be used in riot control? I believe it was being developed the USAF.

Meh. Those flipping Afghans were rabidly waiting for an opportunity like this to rage at ISAF/NATO. I remember a lot of rumoured Koran burnings spread by the Taliban and the riots they caused, I also remembered what happened at a UN compound in the north of the country. But really, after all the time NATO and especially US troops have been in Afghanistan there should have been staff orders and rigid adherence to rules in dealing with religious and cultural peculiarities of Afghans. Afghans are 'special' particularly those Pashtuns and after all the false rumours spread by the Taliban about Koran being burnt before this incident special care should have been observed in disposing of these Korans. The Korans should have been sent to ANSF personnel or an ANA imam for disposal.

I see this Koran burning incident and violent reaction as Afghans tired of seeing foreign troops in their country and too quick to riot against real, rumoured, or preceived insults to Islam. And a refusal on ISAF part to really understand the ways of the Afghans and impart strongly to the troops the need to be very careful of Afghan religious norms and customs in non combat stituations.

The way how I see it NATO/ISAF should either:

    1. Seriously consider bringing back the Taliban to rule Afghanistan under a mutual friendship agreement and with an obligation by the Taliban to enter into power sharing talks with the Northern Alliance.

    2. Ride it out.
