I can't say I hate California. I make some herpy derpy jokes about it occasionally but not much else.

How's winter treating you guys?

It's actually been fairly mild. There was about a week and a half span where it was about 40 each day but besides that it's been good.

With heatstroke season fast approaching I know I'm gonna miss these 50-75 days very much.

Believe it or not but it's true. The govt is screwed but I see plenty of people with expensive cars/home/etc. There's always $ coming in from Asia too.

I can deal with frigid and snowy winters just fine, but summer's worst days make me question why I live here. It's all about the spring and fall, though. All about the spring and fall.

California is a Mediterranean climate (at least where most of the people live), Florida is tropical. California is topographically diverse, Florida is flat as a pancake. California's spanish-speaking immigrants come from Mexico and Central America while Florida's come from the Caribbean (particularly Cuba). That's just a short breakdown of the differences between the two states in a few of the aspects in which they are most similar. Beyond that, they are very different.

California has no hurricanes.

You'll find parts of Florida have a tropical climate as per the Köppen Climate Classification (Aw specifically). The rest is classified as humid subtropical (Cfa).

Ya, I realize that but it's still a misnomer. "Florida is tropical" is like saying "America is tropical".

As a white male when I applied for college...apparently I was not attractive to the Flagship UC schools Berkeley and Los Angeles...but all these women were...I mean this one asian girl left the things that didn't include race and grades blank and got into UCLA...what happened to the whole person concept.

I'm from SoCal but I love the Mid-State Area around Paso Robles.

Asian girl with a white last name? UC system stopped using race as a factor in choosing students. ONce that started, number of asians at the flagship campuses (UC Berkeley, UCLA) went up while blacks/latinos went down.

I'll never forget the wildfires of 03' in San Diego. The sky was a smoky red/pink and ashes were falling from the sky. Then I saw children lined up to get their picture taken with Sponge Bob in a park filled with homeless people. Then I knew everything was going to be OK.
