Default Wyoming House advances doomsday bill

Hmm, I think they are preparing and taking reasonable action..

State representatives on Friday advanced legislation to launch a study into what Wyoming should do in the event of a complete economic or political collapse in the United States.

House Bill 85 passed on first reading by a voice vote. It would create a state-run government continuity task force, which would study and prepare Wyoming for potential catastrophes, from disruptions in food and energy supplies to a complete meltdown of the federal government.

The task force would look at the feasibility of Wyoming issuing its own alternative currency, if needed. And House members approved an amendment Friday by state Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie, to have the task force also examine conditions under which Wyoming would need to implement its own military draft, raise a standing army, and acquire strike aircraft and an aircraft carrier.

The bill’s sponsor, state Rep. David Miller, R-Riverton, has said he doesn’t anticipate any major crises hitting America anytime soon. But with the national debt exceeding $15 trillion and protest movements growing around the country, Miller said Wyoming — which has a comparatively good economy and sound state finances — needs to make sure it’s protected should any unexpected emergency hit the U.S.

Always good to have a backup plan. Don't think they will need it but, it pays to be prepared.

Couldn't agree more. I expect doomsday preppers to go "I told you, didn't I? Yes I did"

Well....if someone is right it is best to admit you were wrong to them. After all they are right.

More likely the preping it will go on forever (past our lifetimes.)

Except the ones that die. In whatever disaster materializes. I'm betting on Utah or Kallie.

Of course these folks know how to get more bang for their bucks. They are devoting $32,000 to research this. I feel they are mostly already ready. The Hot news item in the Trib right now is ..."Sheepherders:A Rugged Existence."

Lol, I saw that and was wondering myself.

I don't think Georgia's done anything like this......but we did pass Senate Resolution 632 in 2009......http://www1.legis.ga.gov/legis/2009_...text/sr632.htm

Very basically, it states that Georgia reserves the right to leave the Union if DC does anything really, really stupid.

Disaster plan? Looting and burning neighboring states, and taking their good-looking wenches works for me.

Joking, joking, but if we Europeans have it bad, still not as many people have lost their houses and jobs as in good US of A!

Better to be safe than sorrow, but the reality is times are tought for everybody and in a country composed of States that have some bad blood still running this kind of bills should be adressed not as "jokes" but as a eye opener.

Unregulated financial markets, unscrupulous bosses, uncrontroled military spending, greed with no limits, leads down a path wich at some point there is no return!

We all literally have to start doing something to surpass this crisys and i mean globaly not just our own backyard or we risk to lose way too much.
3 Trillion may sound not as bad as that, but ever stopped to wonder how much time and effort takes to produce that much money? If u think about it, even for such a powerful country like USA its not a cakewalk, and in a cold analisys if it wasnt for must countries using the american dollar as their main trade currency, this problem would be a all new ball game.
