I still think the diesel overpricing is a collusion to prevent the mass importation of diesel cars from the Euro market.
Diesel being more than regular makes no sense since it's cheaper to make.
I always feared this day would come and the timing could not be worse. Just bought a new car, its a V6 and $5 a gallon is going to suck.
I have a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel truck that I am converting to biofuel . My buddy worked out a deal with 2 local restaurants to come pick up their cooking oil and use it as fuel.We are destroying the planet for cheap transportation, if we don't find a way to work with nature then our days are numbered.
Half of my mates have Golfs and Fiestas for that exact reason.
I aint cryin, im bitching. It's too expensive for ME. paying for food, tuition, etc is getting me upside down all of a sudden.
I'm a College student, my College in is a different county.
I drive a V6 that gets 23mpg city, 31 hwy. one hour commute each way. (i cant afford a hybrid.)
Public transit is dangerous. knifings, mugging, shootings. etc. not viable given the time the transit starts and the time my classes start. either way, im not selling my car to take public just so i can get knifed for 20 dollars.
I forget you guys have a hate***** for us and cheer a little inside for every hardship/loss we get across the pond. You're only for the small guy when its convenient for you/political worldview.
Back in 2008, Honda was planning on bringing the diesel Accord here with about 45mpg. Plans were on at all of the big 3 for diesel engines in 1/2 ton pickups and SUVs. All killed off by the inexplicable disel pricing of 08-09.

VW actually sells them in the USA
You don't need a Hybrid to get decent milage. 31 hwy is downright terrible. What the hell are you driving?
Yes, we hate you since you threw us out. I personally have a celebratory sip of my tea every time an American suffers a slight inconvenience like paying about two thirds of what we do for petrol.
We get it, increasing petrol prices suck, they're going up here too. The cheapest petrol in my area translates to $7.50/US gallon.
