You're thinking of freeways. This may have been a 4 lane 2 way highway. We have these here in North America, as well. 2 lane 2 way highways are even worse. I know someone who was involved in a head-on collision on such a road.

yep. The driver probably hit the brakes too. RIP

I did that once and spun like crazy. lucky me, the opposing traffic lanes of the Highway were separated and no cars were right behind me.

Where? Ones in America are either spaced apart like 50ft between the two or have dividers.

North American highways are spaced, yes, but still leave motorists susceptible to such collisions. Others, not all, are divided by concrete or guide rails.

It was a Kenworth truck fully loaded and solid build, that hit that SUV, nothing short of a tank would survive, also it was a clear side hit, everything went wrong. RIP to poor guy.

Holy ****! That was just brutal. Less than 5 seconds from all OK to game over man. RIP.
At the very least, it was instant.

RIP. Hopefully he died instantly, that's the best you can hope for in those kinds of situations.

Driving in slippery conditions is some dangerous sh!t. Incidents like that happen without warning, and you've got to know how to steer out of it.

Any modern road should have a divider,be it freeway, highway or a normal road.Almost all the freeways, highways and even normal roads in india have dividers.

Had a divider been there in that Russian road, the SUV after colliding with the 1st truck would have hit the divider, thus damaging the vehicle but saving the life of the passenger.

We have so many freeways/highways here there's just no way to put a center divide on all the roads. Most built up areas do, but lots of rural areas don't. The highway patrol need to be able to make a quick U-turn if they need to chase down a speeder going in the opposite direction or something.

Sometimes the center-divide is just a bunch of bushes or trees.

RIP and peace to the truck driver. As a survivor of a nasty crash three years ago (almost to the day), it's very painful to rehab. Broken ribs, collapsed lung, I think about it almost every day. God bless all involved.

I hghly doubt that... Indian drivers must be absolutely **** if the government had to resort to such measures. Which means that you render all of your mid capacity overland roads useless, in case you have to close the lanes leading in one direction.
