i will soon upgrade MY PC from 7 to 8.....BTW my mini laptop runs on anderiod![]()
Testbeds on my work are all multiboot WinXP/Novell/FreeDOS. Personal stations are Win7.
My home rig - Win7, but could do with XP-64 just the same, upgraded only out of curiosity and left it be.
Never touched a Vista besides work-related scenarios (laptops), its market-life was too short.
1. Despite it's faults Dos/Windows simply works.
2. Despite the hype 90% of all software and hardware created for computers are made for a dos/windows system in mind.
3. You can run programs designed for the first Microsoft operating system on Windows 7 Professional.
4. Graphical User Interface is not the core of a Microsoft System. It is still a Command Line interface system and can be permanently run as such with the flexibility command line systems have.
5. Dos/Windows systems are modular. You can upgrade/replace/customise the systems for specific tasks simply by replacing a module.
Your chart ignores Windows 2000 - which was good. And all of the flavours of Windows NT - which weren't.
And Windows 95 was not shit. Looks like fail to me.
Plug and Play, the best three words to ever come to computing - ever!
Been using developer mode at work for months now. Consumer now being out for all to use. In a nutshell, the difference from windows 7 to 8...they took the start menu and expanded it into tiles (apps). Added a apps store and integrated all that using your account that you setup, making a hotmail/live account or using email you already have.
One of the apps on the start menu is your desktop so you can swap back and forth...essentially making it the same. Besides the start menu 'layer' I see no real difference from 7. Being in IT most of the software we use works without fail. Besides one coworker having troubles connecting to the office sonicwall with netextender.
So far i give it a thumbs up. Nothing drastically different from 7/Vista style. Id give it a shot...the apps addition and integrated account is entertaining, there is lots to do with it. a few examples, Skydrive - online document storage and sharing (the cloud concept). For the facebook junkies...the pictures folder has facebook albums and other media all in one location.
