Abortion rights. Access to birth control. Stem cell research. Gay rights. All kinds of ways people seek to impose the superstitious nonsense of their choice on others who don't share those beliefs. If I was an Atheist, why would I give a **** about other peoples religion?
With the ignorance and arrogance you display it's no wonder you bring out the worst in atheists. An Atheists should be the nicest guy around... because you shouldnt give a fcuk about religion. Instead a lot have this assholish arrogance about them, but this is just my experience with my interactions with most Atheists I meet and in this forum.
I really want to hear and see the reaction from muslims when the billboard goes up. Atheists in the US have been going after the easy target i.e. Christianity for so long that they are in for quite a shock going up against Islam.
But thankfully there are level-headed and moderate Theists and Atheists who don't have beef with each other, why? They are secure in their beliefs and don't feel the need to ridicule others to reaffirm their philosophy like Hollis said. "Hardcore" Theists and Atheists are equally as annoying, judgmental, devoid of any logic, and they are horrible representatives of their sides.
(end of chime)
Agnostics believe that you can't know whether god exists or not.Agnostic don't believe and don't know.
Just like there are those arrogant believers who believe their way is the only way, we have you to balance them out.
Every time this subject comes up (and it does without fail every year or so - hmmm like a marketing campaign perhaps), I post my postulations on the three types of atheists. So I'll do it again.
As I see it, there are three seperate groups that describe themselves as atheists.
First up you have a group that these days I call the Apathyists. I like to think I fall into this group. They don't know if there is/are a god(s) and don't care as they don't feel any need for it in their lives. They also don't care if others do feel the need for sacrificing to smok-smok the god of goat rapists, or attending a sermon every Sunday and partaking of the sacrement or any other way of expressing your faith so long as it doesn't impact on them.
Secondly you have the zealots, for whom atheism is similar to a religion complete with a need to preach at theose who's beliefs are "wrong" and convert them over the the right way of thinking. Personally I find these guys to be asshats.
Finally you have those who have in fact embraced a secular religon, but adopt the name atheist as they think its what they are. I'd put eco-nuts in here for example with their gaia/nature worship to an irrational level. No doubt there are others too.
And there you go, my personal summation.
It's funny how you keep mentioning myths, yet when science preach about a belief it's called "theory." Take Christianity for example, it has adopted and changed over time based on new findings that can be proved or answered... same with Science. But no, we are morons that believe in Myth, while some of you hold steadfast on your science... until it is proven wrong, which is ok cause that's what theories are supposed to be.
Is it just me or is this debate getting a bit nauseating?
Religion didn't take Apollo to the moon and I'll leave it to that.
Problem rises when you impose rules over me because you believe in something. As I wouldn't support atheists who would like to ban all religions.
To be honest I saw you trolling first by extrapolating your own experiences to the form that lot of atheists are arrogant asshöles...
I think you have burden of proof because you claim that there is some supernatural being. Atheist are saying (usually) that there ain't any evidence that would point to the existence of god or gods.
