That was the original article (not updated) - they now say 150 dead, 1500 injured as reported in the German article
The first article says 4 dead the 2nd article says 150.
I would say 150 and 1500 is BS considering the source of it being some anonymous diplomat.

Ridiculous if true.
Wow....that's a lot of carnage. RIP.
Number of dead has now been raised to 200 (Source: Rep. Congo Presidential Office): http://www.trust.org/alertnet/news/a...o-republic-pr/
And how are 150 dead and 1500 injured ridiculous or even BS? Has anyone of you bothered to look up Mpila in Brazzaville? If the base is the one with the helicopter landing pad, it's basically just next door to a high-density civilian population area.
updated BBC article saying at least 150:

Good God,
Rest in Peace.
Gah. Such a waste of life. RIP.
Wow! I wonder what caused that!.... I was based at a FOB there at Brazzaville airfield back in '97 for a month..... Lots of derelict migs( still with rocket pods and MGs on), arty and other arms just lying around with no security to talk of.
RIP to the dead
BBC reporting :
RIP to those killed. At least 200 people are reported to have been killed following huge explosions at an arms dump in Congo's capital Brazzaville
RIP to the Dead and speedy recovery to the injured. Scary thing is that there are plenty of these poorly planned and maintained munitions depots in some countries.
