So I was thinking about buying this game, however after looking on metacritics I saw that users gave it pretty horrible score. So how is the game? Are the graphics, storyline, server problems etc. really that bad?

People were mostly complaining because they couldn't play. You should try out a starter edition(free on battlenet, or alternatively one of us could give you a guest pass) and see for yourself. It's a Blizzard game, so don't expect top of the bill graphics, but this also means you can run it on pretty much any halfway decent hardware. Server issues have been largely fixed, at least in the EU region.

It is a solid sequel to the other two Diablo games. You focus more on gear than on skill(trees), but the right collection of skills and runes is still extremely important. Normal mode is like a tutorial and for the storyline, the "true" game starts at nightmare and hell difficulties.

The higher difficulties are much more difficult than Diablo 1 or 2: you need your time to learn how to play your character, which skills (with which runes) you want to use, which champion/rare monster trait means a lot of hurt and tears (arcane + molten + invincible minions suck) and how to avoid getting one hit by white trash mobs.

Servers are stable for most part of the time, so far I had no problems with lag or high ping. On sunday was an unscheduled maintenance downtime and of course, there were the infamous "Error 37"s on release day. But beside that, I had never issues with the servers.

Graphics are fine enough; it's Diablo and not Skyrim or Crysis The game runs smoothly on older PCs like mine and I like that very much.

Storyline is bloody awesome and even the companions can be quite entertaining (sometimes like Enchantress: "You are like an older brother to me." my Barbarian: "But I won't talk to you about love" Enchantress: "Oh,ehm..wtf?!")

As far as I can tell. Saw a video with Demon Hunter dealing ~200.000 crit damage on Inferno.

For now, change your password and grab one of Blizzard's Authenticators anyway. We'll keep you posted on any updates from Blizzard.

Donlan did not have the authenticator before the hack, but reports suggest accounts have been compromised even with this enabled.
Nope, sorry. I won't buy this authenticator and give Blizzard even more of my money. Get your servers secure, ffs.

Use the search on the Action House. I saw a 1800 DPS lvl 60 weapon (magic - blue; lots of extra damage and extra % damage). I think it was 17.000.000 gold.

That nicely supports my opinion that user ratings are useless because of internet rage.

Graphics are just like they should be for a game of this type. Animations are nice, textures are not very high quality, but it lets the game run smoothly even on mediocre PCs when much is going on.
Storyline is weak and generic, which is normal for a game that is just about slaying through hordes of monsters.
Server issues where there, but this should be solved by now mostly.

Most importantly its just fun to play, because you can do more with your character then in previous diablo games. Monsters also have more abilities you have to deal with.

Maybe you can play on a friends account to try the game out?

You can get the authenticator app for your smartphone for free, its for both iPhones and Android phones, only if you don't have a smartphone then its a wise idea to get the USB authenticator.
