the important is to save lives. If Sweden's "neutrality" is butthurt, so be it, wouldn't be the first time. Anyway when a maneuver turns into "the real deal" the flaws in the system (Swedish or otherwise) will be revealed.

Please keep in mind that Norway and Sweden (and Finland!) share our airspace for military excercise purposes all the time.

"It is the last Tuesday in August, and that means air combat over Sweden.Sometimes the Swedes over here to train, for example, in the waters off Lofoten.Other times there is a meeting between Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish fighter pilots of the Finnmark Plateau and northern Finland. The agreement to conduct joint training between the Nordic countries started two years ago. Previously, Swedish and Finnish airspace inviolable for Norwegian fighter aircraft. But the agreement has proved so successful that it now meets the air campaign almost weekly."

    Good neighbours.

If you are wondering why it seems hard to find the aircraft/crew in a relatively small area here's a topographical map:

Add snow, wind, a sun that sets at 5PM and snowy conditions it's quite hard to find anything. As for radio contacts the signals will bounce across the vallys and follow the streams, so even if you get an indication of a radio signal you might still be way off..

What? Where have you been for the last 10 years? We're not neutral anymore bro.
I didn't mean that I didn't want foreign aircrafts in Sweden, I meant that we should send everything WE have to assist. As in we should do more. Send more troops and try to get them out alive. NATO or not, Swedish - Norwegian ties will always be closer then with any other NATO nation. Please troll somewhere else, sir

Though the radio signal is/was extremely weak, which suggests an activated emergency locator transmitter that has been separated from its external antenna by crash force. If that is the case, this will probably not have a happy ending.

    edit: spelling

Then you should have expressed yourself differently. It maybe "embarrassing" that Sweden doesn't have the resources or doesn't use them efficiently, but hardly that "foreigners fly over" in such a situation. And FYI Sweden is still formally "neutral" and anyway "alliansfri". A large part of the Swedish opinion is still "NATO-fientlig" and I expect a lot of negative comments in Swedish press about foreign troop on Swedish soil. I might be wrong, but my comment was written in that context. Maybe all that is just "lost in translation".

Bad weather in some areas apparently only about 20m of sight, the helicopters have called off the search for the night and will resume in the morning. I hope they find them soon

Here is a webcam from Kebnekaise mountain lodge so you get an idea on the weather in the area where the plane disappeared. Updates every 1 min.

They have moved the rescue central to the lodge.

Searching has been resumed this morning, according to the news. 4 helicopters, concentrating to likely areas where it may have crashed. the bad weather is making the search difficult.

Snowmobiles have searched the area where they found heat signature tonight without success, seems to be a false positive but they are still looking.

Hope they find the wreck soon. Wish i could take part in the SAR, they are always pretty tiring but at the same time really interesting and you get your little dose of adrenaline. Of course i have not taken part in a such large-scale SAR, my experience is limited with searching missing elderly, kids or fugitives with dogs and motorized patrols and such
