Interesting, Xav. Does it mean the police think he's more likely some kind of gun collector?

    Maybe they are...
Personnaly I don't agree 100% with the "expert" from police... "Pro" or no, a killer will use whatever gun is available on the market to kill. As I said before, France is not the US, you don't walk into a store, show your ID and buy a couple brand new identical guns.

Sure there is the black market... but then it is probably easier to buy 1x 9mm and 1x 11.43mm than two identical guns... just IMHO

edit: Plus the "when you are a Pro you make sure your gun don't jam" ... sure because with "Pros" guns never jam right?

    Crimson level

Notification of a risk of major attacks, simultaneous or otherwise, using non-conventional means and causing major devastation; preparing appropriate means of rescue and response, measures that are highly disruptive to public life are authorized.

Allow me to make a dubious point.

Professionals are predictable, but the world is full of dangerous amateurs. This man is no pro but he's careful. If the casings are clean and the magazine as well, the man is pretty much determied. IE they would have to catch him in the act or with confounding evidence (scooter, handguns).
On a side note, kids dying every day, the Ides of March Redux? The fate is strange some times.

If you have a unidentified, politically motivated shooter at large, you should declare some sort of alert.

Yeah but why "make history" and put highest level into action...for the first time ever ? I mean I understand something needs to be done but it has been done already: Permanent police presence in front of each School and Church/Mosque/Synagogue in France... Not need to raise to highest terror level I mean this is not 911 or anything like that either...

    Bah you know the answer
I mean i agree with you : we are already on Red for years meaning special attention is given to schools, rail stations, airports and crowd gathering areas
Crimson is only to be set up in case of imminent danger of major attack
So i ll put it straight : either the intelligence is on something big, either our president is trying to getting points what i find particularly disgusting (and in that way he forgets the Spanish lesson after Madrid)

RIP to all victims, let the perp rot in the deepest hell
