The most sensible thing I saw in this whole issue so far was a (black) friend on facebook, who pointed out that whether Zimmerman is guilty is not the point - rather, black people kill other black people all the time over nothing. Why does no one decry that? Why aren't people screaming in rage over that?
They do, set to music that sounds suspiciously like rap.....oh, wait...
The reason people are pissed off is that they think the way police handled the issue is unfair and indicative of institutionalized racism. Which does exist, though I'm not going to claim a position on this particular event one way or another.
I just heard on the radio while driving that Martin's corps was lying in morgue not identified for three days since nobody searched for him. I wonder if there is a reliable source for that.

The first to arrive was officer Timothy Smith. From Smith's report:
"While I was in such close contact with Zimmerman, I could observe that his back appeared to be wet and was covered in grass, as if he had been laying on his back on the ground. Zimmerman was also bleeding from the nose and back of his head."......
"Zimmerman was placed in the rear of my police vehicle and was given first aid by the SFD. While the SF was attending to Zimmerman, I overheard him state, 'I was yelling for someone to help me, but no one would help me.' At no point did I question Zimmerman about the incident that had taken place."

He initiated the entire thing and then got his ass kicked. So he shot the skittles eating kid that was standing his ground against what he probably thought was some pervert Messican following him around that wanted to eat his ass...But it's all OK cause he was wearing a hoodie and tasting the rainbow.
