On a related note, my dad used to work with a guy at one time who survived the Bataan death march. After that, he was taken to Japan to work as slave labor in... yep, you guessed it, Nagasaki. He survived the a-bomb blast because he was toiling down in a mine.

We just had our Bataan Death March memorial event go off today, Something like several thousand participating.
Had the opportunity to help out one of the survivors this morning, one hell of a man.
