The Occupy Amsterdam activists who were forced to break up their camp outside the capital’s stock exchange on Saturday, have now pitched their tent’s at the city’s main Dam square a few hundreds metres down the road.

A city council spokeswoman said the move had been approved previously. The activists say they will leave the square on Sunday evening. The spokeswoman insisted that the activists would be expected to make good on their promise.
On Thursday, an Amsterdam judge ruled that Mayor Eberhard van der Laan had the right to demand that the protesters dismantle the camp they had set up in mid-October in front of the stock exchange. The mayor wanted to evict the activists by Thursday morning but the judge gave them until Saturday.
