M1937 US Army wool shirt, worn with the M1937 wool trousers as part of the class A and class B uniforms in ww2. Worn with either a service coat or a field jacket on top. Standard issue field and dress shirt in ww2. It's an original as well.
The Wool Flannel shirts were issue in WWII for Field and Service dress use. During the Korean War were also used that first winter as supplemental field CW issue. Your shirt could be from either WWII or Korea.
No LD, it is definitely not korean era manufacture, the uniform had been replaced by then. Surplus stock was issued until exhausted but it had not been manufactured for some years.
LD didn't say is was produced during the Korea time frame, only that it was used, especially during the first winter. The wool shirt was further used with some changes in cut and color as part of the winter field uniforms up until the synthetic craze began. Same as the brown wool, button neck sweater.
No, "could be from ww2 or korea" could mean anything.
The wool shirt was not changed until the 1951 pattern came out, which was OG107 wool/nylon blend. This remained the same until the late '80s.
The 5-button high-neck sweater changed in the late 50's from 100% wool in brownish green to part wool, part nylon in olive green with different buttons.
I think you are reading into it too much in regards to LD's reply. And thanks for the history lesson, although not sure where you got all the info as there was nothing green about the updated "brown" sweaters as they were called, because they were, uhhh,"brown" in color, not olive green. At least none of the many I had issued and worn over the years![]()

Linedoggie you are amazing. Do you know all this stuff or just have great resources?
Swapped a patch this weekend, it only said US on the bag I found it in, tried to locate some info on the squadron, but couldn't find the patch anywhere else.
It looks old and worn, rockets on it, I am guessing 60-70s? Anyone got more info on this?
