    Campaigners say Breton, Occitan, Corsican and others will soon cease to be living languages without formal recognition.

    IIRC the French government is obliged by law to communicate in French. This is why the 2008 amendment to the constitution was blocked by the Constitutional Council, as it contradicts the Fifth Republics constitution regarding French being the Republics language.

    Regional languages are being recognised, just not 'official status'.

    Forgot that too but yes we have it also

    IIRC the French government is obliged by law to communicate in French.
    Due to the fact that there is only one official language in France : the french
    But people is free to learn as many others he wants
    And yes there are schools teaching them
