I believe it. Got my license there in 1986 - socialist hippy hair and wide-frame glasses. Did my open water quals during miluim in the hills. About 5 of us had a Friday ritual of going diving in the late afternoon, then beer, humus and chips at the Mercaz and home for Shabbat dinner.

    Hello MP.net

Does anyone know how hard it would be and how much it would cost to find a place to stay for a single month in Jerusalem?

I found quite a few places in the German colony for rent last time I visited - We took the nomadic route and didn't take a place.

avoid eastern Orthodox Jews, i heard they're like some weird Jewish version of the west baptist church. Which pretty much means everyone hates them because they are super hard core extremist.
Also try if you haven't already to learn the languages to some degree, because it makes life easier, makes knowing people easier, and doesn't make you seem like an @$$ which is also good.

    Oh my ...

Pray tell, what is an "eastern Orthodox Jew"?

Also, you meant to type Westboro Baptist Church, correct?

    Hi,
try this websites to find some place to stay http://homelidays.com/ or http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/ .
I use them when I need a flat in Israel for my holiday.

I have studied modern standard Arabic and Biblical/ancient Hebrew.

So I'll probably sound retarded whenever I try to speak to someone.

If they put a plate of pitas, a bottle of olive oil, a dish of dry herbs and a bowl on your table, you are supposed to mix the herbs with some oil in the bowl and dip the bread in it. And expect any conversation with any Israel to be interrupted at any moment by them answering their cellphone and ignoring you while they talk. The conversation will resume in mid-sentence right where it left off when they are done.
