    Default Ship bound for Syria stopped-Cyprus media reports

    A ship owned by german company Bulk Chartering and under a Antigua Barbuda flag was stopped outside Cyprus because of reports that it carries weapons for Syria.

    It was German ship under a Antigua Barbuda flag leased by company from Ukraine transporting weapons it got in Djibouti from Iranian ship.

    The Syrian opposition doesn't hold any coastal places which could handle such a cargo.

    Weapons for the FSA might be smuggled through the ports but I agree that this is a much less likely scenario.

    Of course the port of origin leaves no doubt as to who was supposed to recieve the shipment.

    Was the shipment of weapons intercepted by the Greek Cypriot navy, or the Turkish Cypriot navy?

    Well considering 'Greek' Cyprus is the one recognized internationally, I assume the former, otherwise they would have added the modifier

    Ahh... it wasnt intercepted at all. He did stop by himself. Cyprus only denied it entrance.

    Btw. It did turn off its transponder now.

    According to der Spiegel, comapny which own the ship order its captain to stop after intervention by German government.

    Seems like they're headed to Latakia, Syria or Iskenderun, Turkey

    Latakia is still in the hands of forces loyal to the dictatorship.

    So at the end the ship anchored near Iskanderun.

    At least Iranian weapons are intercepted. I bet both Turkish Navy & US 6th fleet won't dare to stop Russian flagged weapons supply to Assad.
