2 female bodies found by searchers this weekend, one in the river, the other in the forest.FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Deputies have identified the body of a woman found in the Cape Fear River this weekend.
The Cumberland County Sheriff says she is 30-year-old Heather Nicole Smith.
Right now, exactly how she died, remains a mystery.
This discovery put those searching for missing Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux on edge.
More than two dozen volunteers spent much of the day Saturday looking for the woman near the town of Linden.
They say, when Smith's body was discovered, they worried it was Bordeaux.
"They said they thought it was Kelli, and then when we got down here they said it was somebody who's been missing for like a week, I guess the description didn't match up," said Christy Key, witness.
Bordeaux's husband says he's not giving up hope either. He plans to join others, searching for Kelli, next weekend.
