Nice video indeed. Home Guard with NLAW...hmmm
Carl Gustav and NLAW.. and a Danish commando mortar team(?- not sure why they are present).

Ahhh.. okay. It's to show Saab 60mm prefragmented rounds I understand now. We use APAM(made by Ruag). Tought that was what they were firing.. didn't make sense to meCertainly a hard hitting Inf unit.. CG's HE airburst round has always impressed me.. they detonate excactly where you ask it to do, almost every time.
The ones we bought have really shown their worth. Especially with prefragmented rounds.. The precision is awesome(thanks to Morfire) for the Long Range version.. can be used very close in. Don't know much about the commando version that is used in the video, but that team seems to be very good. Good hits..
The NLAW is also impressive.. how the hell does it detonate so precisely over the target??
That is a fine demonstration of the firepower a well trained and equipped section can put down. Not many sections would be equipped as such (open to correction on that) and was purely for display however not too far outside the realms of possibility either.
Ireland operates the Vektor 60mm M1, I believe it is a bit heavier than the LMT M/06 but can also be used in the commando role. Excellent systems and very effective.
The Army usually operate platoons with 3 sections/squads. 2 rifle squads and 1 squad shown in the video (GPMG/CG).
In the Marines we operate 5 squads within a platoon. 3 rifle squads, one GPMG squad and a CG squad.
The unit shown in the vid is quite representative for how an average section is equipped in the Swedish army. I'm in a c2 platoon and we have more firepower than is showed in the vid(Add AT4's, Minimis and the 20mm automatic cannons on our Xa-203's).
Good video. Gotta love the NLAW.
Just goes to show what us Irish are lacking in terms of fire power. Not that we can justify having/needing it in the first place... We are good at what we do, but most of this type of equipment is the remit of a support platoon. Sections usually have a 203 or two, GPMG and a 60mm (if they are lucky/when needed).
When I was a conscript in the Marines we had the following hardware in my platoon ( light infantry platoon);
3 Rifle squads with Ak5s, two minimis, two m203s, claymores and 10 AT4s ( we carried a AT4 each when we did beach assaults, normally we only had two AT4s)
1 KSP58/GPMGM240 squad with Ak5s, two KSP58s and then same number of AT4s
1 GRG (Carl Gustav M2) squad with Ak5s, two GRGs and the same number of AT4s.
Since we were the maneuvering platoon in the company we had bandwagons instead of Patrias like the other rifle platoons had, so they had the 20mm canon too.
And as company support we had a Mortar platoon with 81mm, carriable mortars.
When I joined the corps professionally we had a different set up (Rifle company);
3 Rifle platoons with Ak5s, M203s, Minimis, AT4s, KSP58s and shotgun.
1 Support platoon with Ak5s, minims, AT4s, KSP58s, M2 Heavy Machineguns, Grenade machineguns, 120mm mortars and Hellfire missiles.
1 HQ platoon. I have no idea what they packed. Never saw them![]()
A d don't forget the section leaders flare gun and Glock!![]()
