Even if it doesnt cost 38,000/day but more like 10,000/day that would mean he has used 450,000 dollars of tax payer money for his own protection.Gingrich reportedly requested Secret Service protection in February and was granted a detail in early March. There's a law that governs which candidates get Secret Service protection. The two parties that you mentioned, don't get it and won't get it unless they are considered viable candidates deserving of the detail.

One might suppose that the OP's level of concerned about human life is dependent on partisan alignment. That it's money well spent to protect Democrats, but a waste to protect Republicans.

I'm okay with the nominees receiving a protection detail, did i ever say anywhere that mitt romney doesnt deserve protection, or that i was for hillary and barack having protection? No.

Just because no one is actually taking Newt seriously as a viable candidate anymore doesn't mean he isn't covered under the law.
