Some smart guy said that a long time ago. Sounds like hippy crap. i bet he was some kinda pinko commie leftist that never carried a gun in his life.

He advocated common sense and balance and warned us about what we're facing today; a MIC that is out of control.

Nice strawman. No, Ike had probably the most active interventionist policies since any president. This IS the guy who had the CIA overthrow an elected leader of state after all. No, Ike was about ensuring Defense money was spent for Defense needs, not to enrich lobbyist and industrialist and CERTAINLY not to maintain an illusion of defense at the expense of your populations well being, you know. Like the Soviets did.

    Not quite right:

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

    - Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953.

Sure it does. He was infuriated he was passed over for Commandant of the Marine Corps, then weeks later spews forth his diatribe. If he had ethics he wouldnt have waited until being passed over to spew his hatred.

Really? you can't buy a car, truck, boat because those industries are on a war footing making military goods?

The Airlines cant get aircraft because of Military priorities?

Your food Rationed along with your fuel, shoes, clothing, because the MIC has priority?

    On what planet?
