Good luck lads! I had many a tour aboard that girl and she is one of the finest ships of them all. 'All challenges squarely met.'

I had a tour on her sister ship, HMCS Ottawa.

Great vessel, the bridge is a bit cramped, but a lot of room for flexibility and upgrades.

Its the USCGC Juniper (WLB-201) buoy tender.

I knew a Coastie that sailed throughout the South Pacific finding, cleaning and fixing bouys.
It's slow and unglamorous job but very important.

Well it's just a frigate, not quite the Death Stars of the USN

The batch II vessels were supposed to be 10 meters longer to accomodate a Mk41 VLS.. They were supposed to replace the Iroquois class. Instead we threw some paint on the ol' 280's, sank one, and called it a day.
I read somewhere that if it was needed, the ships can carry 16 Mk48 tubes per side

I got to visist HMCS Ville de Quebec in Toronto 3 years ago if i recall, and it was a great experience. I have never been on any other warship, so didnt really notice it to be cramped.
I guess most stuff goes on in the operations room anyway so bridge space probably isnt too big a deal. Pretty sure the navy has started midlife refits on the class

I dont know why, but i have always been fascinated by warships, modern and historical. They are just awesome, and awe inspiring.

I think it is a great opportunity for the public to be able to go and tour the ships, meet the sailors, etc. It has to go a long way in attracting youth to join the Navy, they can see themselves the technology they will get to play with.

Anyway, good luck boys and girls

    Ok im done rambling

Canadian warship intercepts drug shipment in Arabian Sea

HALIFAX — The Royal Canadian Navy says one of its warships has intercepted an illicit drug shipment in the Gulf of Aden. The navy says HMCS Charlottetown made the seizure Saturday as part of a 26-nation counter-narcotics task force in the gulf, which is on the west side of the Arabian Sea, north of Somalia.
