These are absolutely fantastic! I could see that being functionally made.

You have to take into consideration that the Hind is basically a multirole heavy assault gunship. Most variants are armed with the Russian 12.7 (which is a massive round more powerful than the NATO 12.7) Yak-B gatling gun, some are armed with the GSh-23L, and some newer variants are armed with the GSh-30k.
The advantage with the 12.7 is a faster firing rate and more ammunition. It's more effective against infantry, and the Hind almost always has guided missiles to deal with AFV's/structures. The 12.7 is also very good at ripping through lightly armored vehicles and structures. So with the 12.7, its far more versatile as to what it can engage.
The GSh-23 and GSh-30s are good options for a dedicated Anti-Armor helicopter, but on most variants this is a disadvantage because they are in a fixed position, as opposed to the 12.7 being flexible.
But I do agree, seeing a Hind spit 30mm fire must be the closest you could get to seeing a real fire breathing dragon, and seeing it coming towards you would probably make most soil themselves, so theres that.

The problem is not that they wouldn't sell you any, it's that you would never want to get them, because of the old soviet-union stigma. No Western European country will buy Russian hardware, no matter how competetive or advantageous it is.

That's actually what I meant, we would never buy any due to past hostilities. My bro and dad feels the same way, they spent years chasing or looking for russkie subs while in the navy

Itīs the 21th century now and apart from Soviet mafia and alcoholics they are welcome as immigrants. The reasons why no Soviet (or Russian) hardware is imported are contracts, supporting national industries, supply problems and licensing. And Putin made it very clear during the Ukraine oil crisis, that they can shut down any supplies whenever they like

Who's talking about russians as a people? You'll never see a Hind or anything similar flying above Copenhagen or Oslo, it just could not happen. Ever. Supply problems or not. Too much history.

I wouldn't mind, but for guys with some 40 years in the service like my old man, NOT SO MUCH.

Actually I wouldn't agree with this, in 2007 Croatia acquired 10 mi-171 sh from Russia. We still have pretty good cooperation with Russian side, Russian mig-29 will be maybe new multipurpose fighter jet of Croatian air force. It's not everything so black as you said and predict. It's true we got those helicopters because of "klirinški" debt (Shi*t I don't know how to translate this, help me )which Russians had towards all ex-Yugoslavia republics, but also we could buy something else from Russia for that money like Serbia for example, Russians build some power plants for that money in Serbia. None has told to Croatia at that time "hey guys, no matter it's just klirinški debt you aren't allowed to buy Russian "junk". We bought them, and even NATO is happy because of that and our 171 doing excellent job for NATO in Kosovo and many other missions.

    Russian weapon - 4 ever!
