You have to take into consideration that the Hind is basically a multirole heavy assault gunship. Most variants are armed with the Russian 12.7 (which is a massive round more powerful than the NATO 12.7) Yak-B gatling gun, some are armed with the GSh-23L, and some newer variants are armed with the GSh-30k.
The advantage with the 12.7 is a faster firing rate and more ammunition. It's more effective against infantry, and the Hind almost always has guided missiles to deal with AFV's/structures. The 12.7 is also very good at ripping through lightly armored vehicles and structures. So with the 12.7, its far more versatile as to what it can engage.
The GSh-23 and GSh-30s are good options for a dedicated Anti-Armor helicopter, but on most variants this is a disadvantage because they are in a fixed position, as opposed to the 12.7 being flexible.
But I do agree, seeing a Hind spit 30mm fire must be the closest you could get to seeing a real fire breathing dragon, and seeing it coming towards you would probably make most soil themselves, so theres that.
