    Default ANZAC Day 2012

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

    We will remember them.

    We will remember them.

    RIP Dougie and Ngam's.

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."

Rest in Peace to those who died...

probably off-topic, but does the French and British armed forces have a memorial day for their lost ones in Canakkale

EDIT: wanted to add this poem and picture.

    Dur yolcu, bilmeden gelip bastığın,
Bu toprak, bir devrin battığı yerdir.
Eğil de kulak ver, bu sessiz yığın,
    Bir vatan kalbinin attığı yerdir!.

Stop wayfarer! Unbeknownst to you this ground
    You come and tread on, is where an epoch lies;
Bend down and lend your ear, for this silent mound
Is the place where the heart of a nation sighs.

long may they be remembered. Wish I could attend a dawn service again.

On a lighter note, just been told by a kiwi mate that the lasting lesson his granddad came away with was never to trust a pom with a whistle.

    We Will Remember Them.

This time last year I was sitting in ANZAC cove. It was the hardest night of my life.

For the boys and girls that served with me, and all the others out there who had the honour of wearing the uniforms of the ADF and NZDF, and any other for that matter, today I know if I see you in a pub in Melbourne, I'll gladly buy you a beer and swap some stories.
