10 years of service is far less than the damage that would be caused by public disrespect and a pledge of insubordination if it went unpunished. It is a no brainer for me.

Atleast someone in this country is being held accountable. Everyone else from the President on down, has run amok and is not made to answer for any of their poor choices or unexcusable comments. Hhmmm, maybe this will start a trend?

You could have left the Guards Company, no need to leave the Army.

Edit: If Danish soldiers could get fired over FB comments, there wouldn't be many left in the Army after the last election

Cause the military is one of the few government jobs that have clearly written out rules of conduct concerning such things? Obama could go on the TV right now and call your mother a whore but nowhere is it written that he will have to lose his job over it.

Good riddance to the oathbreaking turd. I don't care what your politics are. At the end of the day you serve the people's will or not at all.
10 years and he lost all of his benefits. I hope it was worth it.
These guys were hailed as hereos when Bush was president.

Unless it was Bush. Don't ever recall any discharges over it.

So there is no room for counseling or some sort of lesser penalty? 10 years have been earned.

Well, the media is very often short on facts and long on wind. I was looking for some older information. There is probably more to this. I had a friend explain this proceeding to me on how it works, but it was sometime ago.

Who in the media while on active duty made a spectacle of her/ himself saying explicitly that they would disobey President Bush and didn't recieve a discharge?

This clown attention whored and forced the Corps' hand. If he had been bull****ting with his like minded buddies at the smoke pit nothing would have happened.

Yes, Bush was as divisve a character as Obama is now and was likewise a lightning rod for all kinds of hate and discontent. But remember, as enlisted men and women, you are not expressly forbidden from voicing dislike for the President. Officers are. And there is a big difference between voicing dislike, even classlessly, and pledging disobedience like this sh1t-pigeon did.

I don't recall any specific cases, but "refusing to fight an illegal war" comes to mind. Don't recall if anyone got discharged, but I'd assume it's an instant carrer stopper.
