Arranged marriages happen and when it comes to Child marriages they do happen even if it's deemed illegal in such Countries like India the practice still happens .
What is written as law is merely in most cases ignored or even presented to give the impression that such practices isn't allowed full stop but when people are jailed for committing crimes against children whilst in some nations it's not even regarded as a crime yet a kid can marry at 16 .. not even old enough to buy drink in a pub ..
There is hypocrisy and double standards when it comes laws regarding child rights when some countries allow kids aged 16 to get married ..further more hypocrisy if a kid aged 16 is regarded as a child by a model agency and the goverment , how can that child be regarded as an Adult if allowed to be married , Consider the backlash of the recent pics published by Kim kardashian of her relation aged 14 if am not mistaken .

I'm not going to say it's okay when a 50 years old slob goes to marry a 16-years-old. However, that's still a whole lot different from a kid being forced to marry another kid at one-digit ages and all the repercussions those kids have to face who try to break out from forced marriages. The fact that India has a ban on these kind of marriages in effect has no significance whatsoever. I am in no way saying that forceful (child) marriage is in any way good, just presenting the fact that it is indeed illegal by law in India, and not openly allowed as timetraveller stated.
